Driving a sports car in Amsterdam
The canal belt is not where you want a wide, low car: narrow streets, trams, cyclists everywhere and car parks with steep ramps. Most people who rent here use the car outside the city, for a day on the coast, a drive into Germany or an event, and have it delivered to their address. Amsterdam has a low-emission zone; modern petrol sports cars are not affected.
The Amsterdam selection is smaller than Rotterdam's, with a lean towards Audi RS models and premium SUVs. The median day price for cars kept in Amsterdam is €750.
What you need to rent
- Age: the minimum age on these cars runs from 18 to 24, set per car by the rental company.
- Driving licence: most companies want a licence you have held for a few years. An EU licence is accepted as is. With a licence from outside the EU, ask whether you also need an International Driving Permit before you book.
- Deposit: the median deposit is about €3,000. How it is paid (card, cash or bank transfer) differs per company, so ask when you message them.
- Mileage: many cars come with unlimited kilometres, some have a daily limit. It is shown on each car page.
How booking works
EliteHuur is a directory of independent rental companies in the Netherlands and Belgium. There is no booking engine and no booking fee: you open a car, tap WhatsApp and arrange dates, delivery and deposit directly with the company. Writing in English is fine. Car pages are in Dutch, but the price, the photos and the contact button are all you need.
